J.J. Johnson & Kai
Winding, "J&K/Stonebone", A&M/CTi [Japan] #AML 330
(1969).[Original LP]
NOTE: This album has never been issued in North America in either LP
or CD format.
Webmaster's Special Note: Tracklist info
above is included here courtesy of Ezshwan Winding and was taken from
Kai
Winding's official print discography by Piet Van Engelen, entitled
"Where's the Music: The Discography of Kai Winding", Micorgraphy -
Amsterdam (1985). This book is now out of print (but has
been reproduced with permission within another, special section of this
site).
And, the tracklist information in that book for this particular
album differs from that which is found elsewhere on the internet
(see info and photos below). After Kai's passing, Piet and
Ezshwan found an unreleased copy of a record marked as "Stonebone" in
Kai's archive (which had a typed label on it). From that came the
above information. Speculation abounds as to the connection of
these two tracks to what was eventually released only in Japan; a
possible explanation is that they were either outtakes or sessions for
the album never used. Or, that these two tracks may have only
been working titles - which were later changed to corresponding tracks
on the Japan release.
