Jack Jones, "I Didn't Count On Love"/"Does She Ever Think of Me", RCA Victor #47-9934 (1970).[45 rpm single]

"I Didn't Count On Love" is arranged/conducted by Claus Ogerman.

Produced by Jerry Ross.

In the words of Jerry Ross:  "I tell this story only to illustrate that because no matter how big a star you are...this music business is a collaboration of other great talents and if you don't respect that...you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.  When RCA signed Jack Jones, their A&R dept. was reviewing various creative choices to showcase the popular singing star.  As a special favor and an outside project for me, Joe D'Imperio (President of RCA) contacted me as his choice to work with Jack Jones on the studio.  I selected some powerful ballads...Claus Ogerman (my arranger) and I rehearsed; and the RCA studios were alive with full orchestra/choral singers and no Jack...He finally arrived with a disheartened disposition and walked thru a couple of takes and left.  The record was barely released...it escaped!  I think I have the only mint 45 copy.  What was to be a memorable creative moment for me is still a mystery.  PS:  This was another wonderful Teddy Randazzo song and a magnificent Claus Ogerman arrangement!  Thank you both!"
